Useful information for your stay at The Trap
Food and Drink
We provide complimentary milk, coffee and tea, as well as cooking staples (salt, pepper, cooking oil) and bottled water. Each hideaway comes equipped with a small fridge and cooking facilities. The Trap also has BBQ utensils, an outdoor grill, and wood provided.
For buying food to take back to your hide-away, or for eating out, The Green Man country pub is within walking distance and there are plenty of options for pubs, restaurants and food shops just a five minute drive away in the nearby town of Ongar. We particularly like The Cock Pub And Kitchen and, for a wide variety of cheeses and antipasti, The Cheesemonger.
Covid-19 Information
Our sites are set in 200 acres of farmland and woodland. We provide a remote check-in/check-out service, so that other than sheep, you should not need to be in contact with anyone. We remain on hand if you need any practical help, although we ask that you respect social distancing.
The cleanliness of each site is important to us. During this pandemic we have adopted a deep cleaning protocol following each stay.

Local walks and things to do
Most of our guests come to escape the noise and bustle of City life, and so typically while away their time enjoying the nature in perfect seclusion. For those feeling more active, we have left at The Coop details of local walks, trails and cycle rides, for you to experience during your time with us. Please click here to view suggested walks.
We are near to Epping Forest which has some lovely spots and National Trust and other attractions, including the Gibberd Garden. Old fashioned Epping High Street is also worth an amble if you need to shop.
There is also a steam railway running on the old Ongar to Epping central line branch https://www.eorailway.co.uk and the former Government secret nuclear bunker at nearby Kelvedon Hatch https://secretnuclearbunker.com
We also invite you explore our farm set over 200 acres of ancient farmland including traditional hedgerows and notable trees and even a babbling brook. We ask that you do not walk across the fields though – we are still a working farm. There are details of tracks across the farm in The Trap.
